Brachial plexus is the most important topic of anatomy, which each one of us has to remember for medical examination in 1st year of our MBBS. In this post we will be sharing the easiest way to remember the brachial plexus with mnemonics plus some great diagram which will help you to put a good grip on this topic.
Before diving to the Brachial Plexus Mnemonics lets have a brief introduction of them:)
Brachial Plexus are constituted by the anterior primary rami of the spinal nerves C5, C6, C7, C8, and to T1, with contribution from the anterior primary rami of C4 and T2. The origin of the plexus may shift by one segment either upwards or downward, resulting in a prefixed or postfixed plexus respectively.
- In a prefixed plexus, the contribution by C4 is large and that from T2 is often absent.
- In a postfixed plexus, the contribution by T1 is large. T2 is always present, C4 is absent, and C5 is reduced in size.

Now start with remembering this Mnemonics:
(you can choose brachial plexes mnemonic you like)
Re-Take Drinks & See Birds or
Rugby Teams Drink Cold Beers.
T for Trunks (Upper, Middle and Lower)
D for Divisions (Anterior and Posterior from each of 3 trunks)
C for Cords (Lateral, Posterior and Medial)

Mnemonic: "She looks pretty sexy & rude."
1) She for Serratus anterior nerve(C5-C7)
2) Looks for Longus colli(C5-C8)
3) Pretty for Phrenic(C4)
4) Sexy for Scaleni muscles (C5-C8)
5) Rude for Rhomboids (C5)
B) Branches of the Trunks.
1) Sub-clavius (C5-C6)
2) Suprascapular (C5-C6)
(Remember Sup note- b because p is inverted b)
C) Branches of cords
1) Branches of lateral cord.
4) Sexy for Scaleni muscles (C5-C8)
5) Rude for Rhomboids (C5)
B) Branches of the Trunks.
1) Sub-clavius (C5-C6)
2) Suprascapular (C5-C6)
(Remember Sup note- b because p is inverted b)
C) Branches of cords
1) Branches of lateral cord.
Mnemonic: "Look miss look."
a) Look for Lateral pectoral (C5-C7)
b) Miss for Musculocutaneous (C5-C7)
c) Look for Lateral root of median (C5-C7)
2) Branches of medial cord.
Mnemonic: "M4U" or "Money For You" note: For is Four(4).
a) Medial Pectoral (C8-T1)
b) Medial cutaneous nerve of arm (C8-T1)
c) Medial cutaneous nerve of forearm (C8-T1)
d) Median root of median (C8-T1)
e) Ulnar (C7-T1)
